| Hello! I live in Tampa Bay zone 9b (New Port Richey actually)and was wondering if there were any tropical magnolias that can withstand light freezes. Not the native which is everywhere, slow and messy. Tabebuias grow well here, something similar. I lost my mature trees in Hurricane Jeanne in '04 and planted lots of palms, but the Queen Palms are so messy, and the 16 I have are tall now. Thanks! Greg |

| I live in the dry subtropics with high humidity in summer and cold nights with warm dry days in winter, with the occasional light frost (maybe -2 deg C). The Michelia champaca grows well for me, plus the M. figo. I also have a M. doltsopa which is yet to flower but is holding up OK. Hope that helps. |
