Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can offer me or point me to the right place to get a pup of Alcantera imperialis of the species with dark burgundy colour.

thanks in advance.

They are the hardest to get , Brisbane Bromeliads may have some , but for the best colour try a Werauhia sanguinolenta.
Nearly as large , and a much darker red, almost black , and this is the whole plant , unlike the Alcantarea . the infloresence is not as large .

We purchased an alcantarea imperialis rubra at Nova Gardens Nursery at The Gap, Brisbane about a month ago and I know of one other that has been bought from there.

They only had two, but would probably be able to source more.

Dennis Hundscheidt also has them growing in his great Sunnybank gardens and he also sells, so might have one available.

They are a truly magnificent plant ... good luck!

Oh, I loves Dennis's garden. I know about his garden through Burke;s backyard program about tropical garden. But I didn't know he also sells plants.

But, how can I contact him?

He runs a landscaping design service ... the phone number on the card for that is 3345 6836.

I'm not sure how widely he sells his plants though ... it might be more as an extra to the courses/garden design service he offers.

Good luck.
