| Hi folks,
I'm in need of shade ideas for a ginger garden, the garden is along the eastern fenceline and will recieve full afternoon sun. I am also keen to find out more about these wonderful plants, books, websites etc. So post all your hints and ideas, sites and books you know of or what it is that you have done with your gingers (bragging will be accepted!) | Hi Louis, How has your cool climate tropical garden evolved? There must have been a lot of trial and error. I've seen this page and it is excellent, I also have a few others that are quite good. At the moment i'm looking for ideas of what other people have done with their tropical gardens. Ree |

| It all started 17 years ago with a trip to Bali. The rest has all been lots of research and a lot of trial and error with differant plants, aspects, soils and mulches. The results have been suprising and inspiring. Its amazing how many plants (gingers) have the ability to adapt. Some have sulked for a few years and then suddenly taken off. I have to say though that acquiring many of the plants has taken a greater effort than trying to grow them with some growers up north very reluctant to part with cuttings from some of their collections.
