| Does anyone know where I can obtain Heliconia Laufau from? Does it grow in the Brisbane area? This particular type of heliconia is grown for wrapping food in its large leaves, and baking in the ground. It is commonly used in the pacific islands. Many thanks. |

I have never heard of anyone selling this around Brisbane or Sunshine Coast, This probably means that it is too Tropical to grow here. Try Greg Smith at 'Palms for Brisbane'. Ian |

| I used to grow it when I lived in Cairns but it is even a bit scarce up there. I grew a couple of South Pacific / Asian Heliconias when I lived in Brisbane and they are generally not very tolerant of the cooler subtropical conditions. Andrew. |

| if it is anything like H.indica, it will probably wilt if you walk past it with a cold drink. The Sydney Botanic Gardens had some H.laufau growing in the glass house. Quite an unusual plant. |
