Harvesting green Cananga Odorata seed pods

Can anyone tell me if I'm O.K. to pick and ripen Cananga seed pods. I have some really nice, fat ones on some of my trees, looking like little avocadoes. I want to get them off the trees before the birds get them but I don't know if they will ripen off the tree.
Thanks,
Brendon |

Hello Brendon, How did you go with the C.ororata seeds? There are plenty of these trees around Cairns, both in gardens and in the surrounding rainforest. I have one in my garden and there is a huge one growing opposite my house. The scent in the evenings is lovely. I can't say I have ever heard your query before but I do know that the ripe fruit are readily eaten by birds & bats so I reckon when that starts to happen would be the right time to harvest. Grant |
