Can anyone possibly tell me what this plant is called, I took the photo a few days ago, I grew it from the seeds from some fruit I was given a couple of years ago, and was told then, that it is a Strawberry tree, But I'm not sure, and have had no luck so far in finding out just what it is. Ta!

Hi Tez and welcome. Having lived in Townsville a bit I grew one of those so called strawberry trees, Muntingia calabure also known as Panama berry, malay cherry and a few others as well, it grew so fast like 6mts could have been more in two years and wide and a very thick trunk

It has little round red fruit about the size of a small grape just over 1cm across and so sweet they were.Your Pic well the berries look wrong I have put a link down at the bottom have a look and see if this is what yours looks like, but even if it dosn't it could be some other berry from the same family. Hope this helps.

MM.

tmadams - You picture link didn't work for me but it could be Arbutus unedo which is a member of the Ericaceae family? Common name Irish strawberry tree. It's more a cool climate thing obviously but it might do well in sub tropics. Have a look at the link below

tmadams, I could not access your picture either.

Here's a useful hint -- assuming you can still go to your picture in Photobucket, click on the middle one of the 3 boxes below it, the one that says 'tag'. This should highlight it. Copy this to your clipboard, then you can paste it directly into the body of your GardenWeb message (NOT into the 'Optional Link URL' box) and it will show when you click on 'Preview Message'.

This works because the code characters before and after the URL in the tag box are actually HTML instructions to insert an image, and GardenWeb messages are composed in HTML. You can do this both in the original posting or in a follow-up message.
