tiger grass fuzzles bad near pool?

| Hi,
I am getting mixed info on tiger grass - maybe someone else can give me their opinion!
The tag that comes with tiger grass advertises it as being nice around a pool - I have had this opinion backed up by one woman who worked at a nursery. However, at that same nursery, when I came back later, another woman said that it might not be a good idea because of the blooms/fuzzles that tiger grass makes!
So, can anyone say, do those blooms/fuzzles get very furry and drop excessively into the pool? Or is it not something that's too much of a pain?
Thanks! |

| can't help with the tiger grass problem never heard of the grass before, but if it gets fluffy type seed heads then there is a good chance these will end up in the pool and could cause clogging problems or take extra work to keep them clear of the pool. i feel you would be better off not having any grass around the pool, unless you can create a cooch type lawn that is kept maniucured, and why spend all that ime manicuring when you could be enjoying the pool? len |

| I grow Tiger grass and like some bamboo it does get a fuzz on the leaf sheaths but it is only a minor problem if you rub sensitive parts of your skin on it. It is much like the 'hairy mary' that some types of sugarcane get and it can be annoying and irritating on your skin. As long as it is planted so that people aren't brushing past it too much I can't see a problem. It has large leaves that are easy to 'fish out' if they fall into the pool and doesn't have invasive roots that would cause damage. Andrew. |

| Tiger grass seed stays on the stem for a long time before it drops so it is easy to cut them off before they create a problem. This plant is spectacular and well worth the effort. |
