Plumeria cutting virgin

Hi there,
After reading your fab forums I have decided I too will enlist to gain your priceless input.

I have potted my first cutting. I dipped it in root hormone, potted it in soiless potting medium with perlite, watered it with fertilizer. (Hopefully I have done good so far). However..(oh no) I have noticed that the top most part of the cutting is green. Did I not let it dry out enough? Also I bought the cutting with two small leaves on top which have spots of black on them. Is this black rot? Should I cut them off perhaps? The stem is not squishy and is dry so Im not too concerned about stem rot.

Please set my mind at ease, or just put me out of my misery.

Hi Tonian,
I would just wait: do not overwater it.
Here in Townsville: any bit of a cutting usually sprouts leaves even if not planted :lying on the soil.
I am not sure about the black spots but if is feels firm, your cutting should be ok.
Mike

Thankyou for your help Mike. I will now leap forward with confidence and pot another cutting.
Tonian
