Hi all
I need some thoughts and feedback regarding native drought tolerant small shrubs that can be pruned in order to give them a "dome" shape. ideally small leaves, fast grower and great flowers that can be trimmed to shape.
any thoughts greatly appreciated

| Rhagodia spinescens (from the Victorian Mallee country) and Eutaxia diffusa (from south eastern Australia) are ideal for this sort of thing and are very drought tolerant Correa glabra is another plant that will take on a pleasing rounded shape if pruned regularly. Pelergonium australe will grow naturally in a small knee high domed shape with little or no pruning. |

I agree with Greg re Rhagodia spiniscens. Don't know the other one. How about a Westringia? I think it's as drought hardy as you're likely to need in Sydney, and has the advantages of pruning very well and of being easily available at commercial nurseries. Plant a group at 50cm intervals for a quick result, or a double row for a quick hedge. Cheers, Trish |
