Hibiscus heterophyllus

I bought one today, apparently the flowers can be made into jam...anyone got any experience of this ?

One of its common names is 'native roselle', presumably because of a resemblance to the roselle, H. sabdariffa (see link).

As far as I know, the young shoots and flower buds of all hibiscuses are lacking in toxicity and edible to some degree, but this would need checking further.

Rosella jam is delicious! Tart like cranberry. I had a friend who
used to make it and she jealously guarded the recipe and of course
would never tell me the main ingredient although I knew it to be a
hibiscus of some variety.
