Unknown Native Bush

I am in gladstone at the moment and in the rocky eucalypt forests there are strange little shrubs. The bark it light brown and deeply fissured. It has snal oval green things which are fruit or flower buds. I'll try and get more info and a pic but this is all for now.

I'd like to add that the leaves are opposite about 4-5cms long and like pointed oval shape(cant remember propper name for that)

Could it be an epacris? Don't know if they grow that far north.
