IS sydney the wrog climate to get the verigated type to flower Should I feed then some thing They grow ok no or little flowers They grow beautifuly in NZ Laurie. Should I mulkch them with rugby balls

do they need a lot of water in Sydney Mine will not flower. The ax is the next step

You may have noticed that the Pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) often gros on or near cliff faces in N.Z.
The appreciate plenty of water, but demand good drainage and plenty of sun. A lack of either one of these elements will result in a corresponding lack of flowers.
Given appropriate conditions, they flower well in Brisbane, and also in Melbourne, so you should be fine where you are.
Remember too, that N.Z. soils are much younger than Australian soils and contain much more phosphorous as well as other trace elements.

if you mulch them with australian rugby balls they will explode with vigour.

They are growing very nicely and even blooming on the Beach road in Manly Beach. I think you just nbeed to wait for them to get to a certain size/bulk, before they will flower
