Excuse please, my ignorance, but I don't understand your last post, at all. Are you saying the mulch has been stained? dyed?
Any chance of clarification? :)

| Yes, they use a dye to make the different coloured mulches. |

Nathan Of course, I understand coloured decorative mulches exist. However, why would you market an 'organic' mulch to a local market and dye it? |

| I have no idea, but having not seen the particular product I can't really comment. How did they make it black without dyes? |

Well Nathan I must admit after looking at the mulch again, it does look like it could be dyed. The colour is uniform. |
