Looking for a name

I was told today there is a tree with a common name of native bird of paradise has anyone heard of this

There is a large shrub/small tree call Caesalpina gilliesii with the common name of 'bird of paradise'. It is seen growing wild in parts of W.A. It is not a native but a garden escapee. It is a member of the cassia family. BTW it does not look anything at all like Strelitzia. I don't know if this is the one you are looking for.

Yes that is the one but it is a native of south america
