Ficus pumila

I was planning to cover a new zincalume fence with this creeper but someone has told me it definitely won't cling to zincalume. Does anyone know if this is true? If I ncan't use this I would welcome alternative suggestions. The new fence will be set back from the footpath by only a few cm so I need something that will sit very flush against the fence and leave pedestrians alone. Many thanks for any assistance

There is a thead on this elsewhere that I probably can't publish here but if you deleted the stars you might find it.

Seems that metal fences don't provide an enjoyable home for clinging plants - probably the heat too. Some folk had suggestions about providing a better surface but that seems to defeat the purpose, AND allow an entry point for rotting/rusting. And fixing a trellis probably undoes the reason you chose metal over timber or anything else.
But, if you wanted live plants I dare say you could rig up some wire trellis and get a number of things to grow that wouldn't strangle passers-by.]
Or... some art-work painted on?
