Callistemon 'Little John' losing leaves

| I have had a Little John in a pot for a year now, growing well, etc.
It has just started showing signs of flowering - very exciting.
I have just noticed that most of it's lower leaves have turned brown and fallen off and only the tips of the branches have green leaves left.
What has happened? |

| Yeah, that happens with 'Little John'. It's a bit prone to problems, I've tried a couple of them and I think one of it's main probs, is borers! I avoid it now when I visit nurseries. |
