the leaves show up in
http://www.au.gardenweb.com/forums/load/gallery/msg101912475855.html?3
as the large dark green eucalypt/lillipilli shaped leaves

the flower is like a lilli pilli - white/cream in colour and "fluffy"

the fruit is as large as an apricot, cream in colour with a large stone inside
the fruit has the texture of a cherry and a mild eucalypt flavour

all of the flowers near ground level were lost because of the rain and storms and fruit should be out in another month

is this enough information for someone to have a guess? or should I try and get photos of flowers (if they come again) and fruit

The fruit of Syzygium macilwraithianum is about that size. Perhaps you could google it in and see what you think.
Cheers,
Dee.
