What kind of tree?

Posted by australia French riviera (My Page) on

I saw at "Mount Coot-tha botanical garden" a splendid tree, flowering now (large head of yellow flower like pompom),branches in zig zag, with two spines at each angle, leaves bipinnates, like a leguminosae, and at the base was written"Phyllanthus sellowiana"....
Investigations done,in fact it is not a Phyllanthus Sellowiana!
I would be grateful,if someone one could help me to indentify this tree!
P.S The same question as been posted to Mont coot-tha botanical garden, without response...
Many thanks in advance
phil

Sounds a bit like the Zig Zag Wattle, Acacia macradenia.

RE: What kind of tree?

Hi "Goldhills",in the beginning i was thinking like you,but as far as i know,Acacia macradenia has phyllodes, and not two thorns,at each node!!
Two years ago i was at "Gimpie" sleeping there, eating(badly)there, and visiting the market near the rails!
Cheers
