 o
grevilleas & bottlebrush not flowering

Hi,

I planted 9 of the above about 6 months ago, and while they are growing fairly well, only one has flowered - it is a grevillea, and it had lovely flowers for about 3 months. The other grevillea in the same bed hasn't had a single bud. Is that normal until they get a year or two under their belt? I recently gave them some native fertiliser but until then hadn't... I would appreciate any wisdom!

Cheers,
J

You are doing well, some of my Grevillea's did not flower till the second year.
But lack of rain water was probably the cause, as tap water just seems to keep them alive.
My bottlebrushes were even slower but well worth the wait I dont know if it is the same over your way.
Cheers..MM.

Are they in the sun ?

Wont flower in the shade, just an idea.

Thanks MM, think I will just have to be a bit more patient - but it's good to know they're quite normal. Popi, they all get at least half a days sun (mostly morning / midday sun), so that shouldn't be a problem, altho the one that has flowered so far probably gets part shade, not full shade in the afternoon as well. The grevilleas are all types with the prickly leaves and little spider flowers, so I don't know whether the different varieties vary a lot in their flowering, but I think I just need to be a bit more patient!
Thanks.
J
