New Zealand Kaka Beak

From a trip to wonderful New Zealand I brought back some Kaka Beak seeds to my residence-garden in the Canary Islands
(Spanish Islands off the west coast of Africa).
One single seed developed, I transferred it into a large pot, where it grow up to 1m high. But after a fierce rainstom the plant died. Could the reason be overwatering (from the rain) in the pot, or what??
Because currently I grow two more plants (now only a few centimetres high). I want to avoid loosing them again.

Does anybody have some suggestions? Thank you.

Why don't you try the New Zealand page. They might be more helpful about this topic.
