Native Plants in Brisbane

Hi all, my friend is in Brisbane and would like to buy some natives but says the nurseries have a very limited range. Does any one know of a good native nursery or a nursery with a broad range?

Cheers
Aggie

Hi Aggie: Yes on the very South Side of Brissie is,
Neilsens Native Nursery 51 Beenleigh / Redland Bay Road Loganholme.
They used to have a website but I cannot bring it up. Cheers.MM.

I was in Brisbane just yesterday and went to Nielsen's nursery. It's not huge but has a very good range of natives. The prices are average. They had very little in tubes, but some grafted plants.

If you don't mind the trip, Fairhill Native Plants at Yandina (north of Nambour) has an excellent range of almost exclusively native plants and is perhaps somewhat bigger than Nielsen's. It has a good range of tubestock and also some grafted plants. I religiously go there whenever my family is at the Sunshine Coast for holidays. Prices are average. They also have a bookshop and a cafe.

Cheers,
Frank

Those would be the two best - neilsens for flowering natives such as grevilleas, banksias, etc, and fairhill for the really "bush" rather than "garden" varieties.

Another out of the way one, but excellent for tubestock, is Bush Nuts, Syndicate Rd ,Tallebudgera, phone 5533 8105.

The link below gives a SGAP list of nurseries, including some hot links to their web sites. Bush Nuts has a hot link.

Tony, do you know which of these nurseries would be best for tubestock? My sister in law is chasing probably 10 to 20 each of a few shrub-size and groundcover species.

Thanks,
Frank

Here is a link that might be useful: Qld Australian Plant Nurseries

Barung Landcare Nursery at Maleny is also worth checking out, and their prices are quite reasonable.
