| Been reading Gardening Australia magazine? :) I have a bizare fascination with tiny plants, in particular stylidiums. I have 15 species of them and I'm always on the look out for new ones. I recently was given some Centrolepis strigosa and Lynne knew I would lust after it. I also collect lechenaultias, although sadly one of my big plants appears to have turned its toes this week - luckily I have a tray of cuttings. Some of my friends are into native orchids in a big way, and you don't know the meaning of plant obsession until you find yourself in the pouring rain getting grumpy because the rest of your group wants to push further into a mosquito infested swamp looking for an orchid that looks like a small green onion leaf (that was last sighted there in 1912). You on the other hand would like to go and sit in a warm car and change your socks so you can wring the old ones out. So I understand your predicament and can only offer the consolation that if you're lucky you'll get bored and move on. Some of the orchid people are in their 90s and started in school... |
