Syzygium australe 'Tayla Made' PBR

Hi all,

I'm interested in planting the 'Tayla Made' variety of Syzygium australe, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with it?

There is differing info on the web as to it's mature size (unpruned), so can anyone tell me from experience what it grows to? I'm also wanting to know if it's a dense plant (again unpruned), how it holds up in part shade, and how it grows on the Adelaide plains?

Cheers. M

Well, a web site says it grows to 1.5 metres. I've never grown this variety (I tend to avoid S. Australe varieties on account of many are prone to psyslid attack - blistering of the leaves). Syzygiums and acmenas I've planted usually grow to about ý metre taller than recommended. It may depend on climate and soil. You could probably expect about 2 metres but it can easily be kept to size by pruning.
