Ceder Bay Cherry-tastes like Barbeque Sauce!

Am I the only person who thinks this? Or is this just what it tastes like when grown in New Orleans in a pot with a Russian Olive?
What do people do with the things? I was hoping for a sweet fruit-and it IS sweet tasting but dang if it is not more on the savory side. Seems to be begging to be smashed in some olive oil and used to marinate a steak. Opinions on this?
Nobody else here has any of these. |

Hmmm...interesting! I had heard that they tasted a little like grapes. Anyone else?? Cheers, Dee. |

They have a mildly sweet taste. I would not describe it as savoury, at all. Perhaps like a bland cherry, or maybe the superficial similarity to a cherry makes one think that way. The seed is large with thin layer of edible flesh. You have to eat a large quantity to gain much benefit, but it is quite an attractive ornamental plant. Grant |

| I've tried them from 3 different trees (in different areas), and each tasted different. |
