Has anyone germinated Conospermum?

Posted by rob_rah UK (My Page) on

Long shot I know... Just wondered if anyone at all has ever got any germination out of Conospermum seeds?

I currently have a pots of C. huegelii and C. incurvum on the go (both pre-soaked in gibberelic acid, sown just under the soil surface, watered in, left for a few days, then had tissuepaper burned over the soil surface, in ambient temperatures in an unshaded, unheated UK greenhouse [perhaps 8C-30C]). They've been waiting patiently for a couple of months. I am prepared to leave them a year or two. But just wondered if anyone can share anything at all about Conospermum germination, other than that it's hard! :-)

With best wishes.

Rob.

I believe Conospermum are very difficult to propagate from either seed or cuttings and they are rarely if ever available from the established indigenous nurseries.

You might want to try some cuttings as well none the less. You will will need to experiment with taking the cuttings at different times of the year.

Sadly in Europe there is no cutting material available, and we only have access to seed.
