question about kangeroo paw

I just planted 2 kangeroo paws in my garden in LA. 1 is yellow the other is red, and i planted them next to each other. The yellow one is looking great, but after only a week or two, the flowers on the red one have turned mostly white! it looks bleached out.

Does anyone know why or what i can do about this?

Sounds like the red flowered plant has dried out at the roots. Recently planted/divided Anigozanthus flavidus hybrids, which is probably what you have, are very sensitive to drying out and therefore bleaching out/aborting flowering if they become drought stressed. I see this all the time when I divide plants in bloom, but they quickly recover and keep sending up new bloom stalks if they otherwise get enough water and good drainage at the same time. Just cut off the damaged stalks and monitor the watering. Maybe you have a bout of heat wave that dried them out?
