 o
Acacia or Racosperma

For those of us who are inclined to use formal nomenclature for naming of plants you may or may not be aware that there is a push to change the genus of Acacia to Racosperma. This will see our wattles lumped in with similar plants from the African continent.

In the words of those wanting no change " It has become clear over the past couple of months that some pretty strong opposition is developing to the Spermatophyta Committee's decision to recommend acceptance of the Orchard and Maslin proposal to retypify the genus with an Australian species. As you know, in order to be binding this recommendation has to be ratified at the International Botanical Congress whic will be held in Vienna in mid July."

RE: Acacia or Racosperma

Good News. Due to being overwhelmed by emails from Australia the genus Acacia will be reclassified so that our wattles will retain their names. For anyone who sent emails, many thanks.
