Cut flowers

Posted by popi NSW Aust (My Page) on

I would like to plant some native plants that would make suitable cut flowers.

I live about 5ks inland from the coast, just north of Sydney.

I thought of Eriostemon, but I would like some other suggestions, please.

Thanks people.

You should be able to grow the beautiful NSW waratah there wouldn't you?

Consider Isopogons, Banksia spinulosa, Banksia robur, Banksia ericifolia

The suitability of these eastern australian banksia for cut flowers depends upon form and pruning.

How about Christmas bells (Blandfordia)? I've always thought these to be one of our best native flowers, yet have never seen them in anyone's garden. I've tried them, but Toowoomba isn't their kind of country, obviously.

they are hard to grow, however there is a guy out south nsw coast way who grows blandfordia for cut market, not idea about cost.

I've got a few pots of them grown from seed and division and they always put on a spectacular display.
