Carbon Credits

Posted by popi NSW Aust (My Page) on

I am trying to find out about carbon credits and the possibility of my using this as a way to raise money for my local conservation group, that propagates plants and plants them in the local reserve.

Can anyone explain the concept of carbon credits, and how all the trading goes on ? Does this trading just happen with large companies or can it be applied at ground level with my small group?

Any ideas?

Hi Popi,
Good question, though I can't explain it to you, my feeling is the base unit would be very large, but hopefully someone here may be able to help.

Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.forest.nsw.gov.au/env_services/carbon/credits/default.asp

Hi Aeor

Thanks for your input. I must say the whole subject is rather hard to comprehend, or is that just me !

In my local shopping centre, they have been handing out longlife light globes, and watersaving showerheads, for about a week now. These are all free. I guess something to do with carbon credits. I must find out who the "giver outers" represent. Its nice to see something positive being done to reduce greenhouse gases.

Anyone else got free globes, and showerheads?
