 o
Triglochin procera? Advise, please....

Hello. I am interested in one of your bush foods,
Triglochin procera, Water Ribbons, especially the
tubers. If you have time, would you please enlighten
me about:

1. Your experiences growing it...

2. Your experiences propating it...

3. Your opinion on the tuber taste...

4. From the pixs I've seen, it looks like one
can lift the whole plant, remove the tubers, and
replant the plant for more future tuber production...

5. The only non-Australian source I have found
for it is B & T World Seeds in UK. Any suggestions for
an US source?

Thank you for your time!

Easily grown in a pot submersed in a tub of water with the water level slightly above the rim of the pot.

Remove the plant from the pot and look for the newest tubers that are almost translucent white in color. These are crisp like water chestnuts. Older opaque tubers tend to be fibrous.

Tubers taste quite sweet, something like sweet potatoes.

Thanks for responding, Greg.

Any suggestions on how to start from seeds?

Might one "lift" the plant every month or so, thus
insuring all tubers would be new?

Anyone else? Thanks all!

Every month or two would be about right. Wait until they are of a substantial size first though.
