Sale of noxious weeds on ebay and oztion

For anyone interested, I have scored a small victory on this front.

After a few months of reporting ofending plant items on both oztion and ebay, ebay management has implemented a policy that prohibits the sale of any exotic plants species that are listed as noxious weeds any where in Australia. Oztion is also condisering implementing a similar policy.

Ebay management is also considering banning the sale of any exotic plants that appear on the World Wildlife Foundation list of invasive exotic species. Don't know how far we will get with this.

Greg I think the fact that you've got this far is a pretty impressive effort.
What processes did you use and how hard over what period did you push this.

For several months I have been dogedly trauling through the plant items on ebay and oztion and reporting any offending items. As well as sending emails to the to the ebay media contact.

I made a point of highlighting the fact that buyers on ebay and oztion could be duped into breaking state laws by purchasing plants on ebay and oztion.

I reckon that this will have been the clincher as far as ebay was concerned.

the trouble with ebay is nobody is monitoring anything. so even if they implement this policy its still up to people to dob in the auctions to get them closed down. they also have a policy of not selling live animals and I did a search one day to find kittens and puppies for sale! a good deal of the auctions use descriptions straight off other websites which is clearly copyright infringement but no one at ebay seems to notice.

I applaud your efforts greg, I really do, but I dont think your days of looking out for those type of auctions are over. its really obvious that ebay themselves dont do much to keep tabs on whats going on at their site.
