nsw christmas bush

Hi all
I have inherited several small trees of this kind in my garden. I have only had two spring/summer's with them, however, they don't flower at all. At all. My assumption is they don't because of the copious amounts of shade in my garden, however I was wondering if I could encourage a little colour next season by a bit of careful watering around spring and also I have heard of something to do with old steelo's or iron chelate around the base? Can't find any info about that. Also a good feed of manure? These are snipets of information that I can't clarify, and would love to know if there is anything I could do to encourage just a little bit of coulour to some of my lovely trees. I understand the shade is the main inhibitor, but I have never watered these trees in the past and there are a few, surely one of them receives enough sun to flower a bit!
Any info would be appreciated.
cheers
A

They grow naturally near my place near creeks and watercourses, which is under a canopy of tall eucalypts, angophoras and turpentines. If they get at least partial sun, I would expect some sort of flowering. Perhaps try the extra watering, as I know they prefer a bit more rather than less water.

"To enhance the red colour on the NSW Christmas Bush (Ceratopetalum gummiferum), apply 50g of sulphate of iron
per each 2m high bush in October."
I am quoting a titbit I saved from somewhere but have never actually got around to using. My Christmas bush looks as though it will take forever to get around to flowering. It never gets watered, and I don't really think it likes it here. Best of luck with yours.

By all means try the sulphate of iron remedy, but if that fails, consider replacing one of your species plants with an improved form, of which there will be plenty available near Christmas. Albery's Red is said to be the best flowerer, even in partial shade. Mine is still producing the odd flower and it only receives a couple of hours sun a day.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I will try the water and maybe the sulphate of iron.
