Chamelaucium (Wax Flower) germination

I´ve heard that an smoke pretreatment is needed to provoke the germination of many australian native species. Does this technique work on Chamelaucium? What other germination treatments can I try?

Why would you bother, the seed's pretty cheap to buy.
