Does anyone have any first-hand experience starting these from seeds? I heard they are very difficult. plmk.

Try smoking them. I light a fire in a cake tin with the kindling sitting on a old cake rack. Once it is going strong a place another cake tin partially over the top to starve the fire of air. Then I place that in an old mini green house along with the sown seeds on an upper rack. I leave them smoking for an hour or so and it seems to work a treat. |

| Just a thought though - I take it your living in Zone 7 in Virginia USA. I lived in Fairfax VA and I'd be very surprised if the climate and soil there was suitable for growing kangaroo paw. I could be wrong - but let me know if you're successful |

| thanks for the smoking info greg, Ive been trying to germinate A. Humilis by starting a fire on top of the pot, and then sowing the seeds. I got a few to germinate but they dried out too quick in the terracotta pot and keeled over :( your method sounds a lot better so Ive made a little "smoke house" and Im going to try it out today. I'll post the results when theyre in! |
