| can be done probably not going to be a real easy task. the accepted method is to dig a trench around the parameter of the palm app' 24"s out and down about about the same depth. you will need to get some plumbers wire to cut through the root ball under the palm. remove all mature and maturing fronds. it's going to be quiet weighty so you will need some strong arms around or a friendly bob cat owner. make sure the palm is well watered before starting some suggestions indicate that after digging the trench fill it with water and let it soak in. to hold the root ball in place whilst removing and transporting you will need some hession or old blanket or sheets to tie up around the ball and secure around the base of the palm. once transplanted keep it watered well and plant the root ball with around 4"s or so of soil over the top of it this is so that new roots will grow to anchor the plant, it is most likely going to need to be tied to stakes until it settles in. the other alternative is to buy a new palm and chop this one down. len mail len lens garden page |
