Like almost about every other native, just after flowering.

I would add to roysta's comment, boy prune them, about 30mm off the ground is about right.

I would like to plant Cape Red Lead kangaroo paws in a decomposed granite base in the niches of a rocked disappearing waterfall. Will they like this well draining medium and will they do better on one side exposed vs another? Hot later in the summer..into the 100's. Thanx! Beautiful little plant and bloooming its heart out!

When you do prune them, and I pruned mine about 2 weeks ago, take some of the side growths and pot them up in a mixture of sand, soil and a bit of peat - I just sift a good quality commercial potting mix, it's mostly sand anyway. You never know your luck, I've struck one or two.
