Agonis Flexuosa - Dark Lady

I have been given a plant by this name and would like to know how quickly it grows and can it be kept to a smallish size considering the fact I don't really have any room for it. It's very attractive, and here in So. Calif., not seen often. I do believe we'll be seeing more of it as its burgundy color and shine are beautiful. Can it be grown in a container such as a 1/2 wine barrel? Thanks.

RE: Agonis Flexuosa - Dark Lady

We have a A. flexuosa variety here called 'After dark'. I can't imagine that it would be that different to yours.

Ours will grow well in tubs or large pots. In the ground it would grow 18' high and 10-15' wide, but growing in a pot would tend to stunt it somewhat. It will look a lot bushier with regular pruning which will also limit it's size.

It is a gorgeous colour. I hope it does well for you.

Cheers,
Dee.
