screening tree

I am after a tree to screen the neighbour's two storey house. It needs to be fast growing, without fruit, hardy and completely pest and disease resistant. It would be in part to full sun. An Australian native would be wonderful if one with those characteristics exists! Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think banana trees can solve your matter.

RE: screening tree

There has recently been developed a Lilli Pilli that grows quickly, saw it while working for a garden company while picking up stock at a wholesaler, I'm not sure of it's fully grown height ... but given your needs there's not a lot of "Quick growing natives that live a long time and are not messy, likely to clog gutters with leaves etc, Lilli Pilli's develop small fruits normally (There is a rare plant in the species that develops pear sized fruit) and many are used in jam making.

Many Lilly Pilli's make brilliant screens, and many have beautiful foliage and colourful new growth,
They are excellent as they do not shed branches and are dense, especially when pruned or shaped.

and there are many more, including many new varieties.

Good luck
