I have a tree growing on my property, must be a native as the land has not been lived on before. It it about 5M high, multi trunks, with flowers resembling a powder puff, orange in the centre, white at the ends. It now has fruit on it, not unlike a guava, but still green. Any ideas on what it could be please?

Does sound a bit like a feijoa (pineapple guava), which are native to South America.
Many NZ households have them in their yard and a growing industry has begun here.
The fruit are terrific and remain green, even when ripe.

Sorry to be a bit late answering but it seems like you have a Planchonia careya, Cocky Apple or Billy Goat Plum
