yellow leaves

hi all,

we've got two hop plants, a meter apart from one another, one is looking good and growing well, the other is just growing well but looking yellow.
Is due to some mineral deficiency (potassium perhaps)?

any suggestions are welcome,

cheers Jan

RE: yellow leaves

Jan,

I have had problems with yellow leaves on a Tree Waratah, Gymea and Spear lillies. Suspect a high alkaline native soil mix that was used in the areas where these were planted.

I obtained some Iron Sulphate from Bunnings(not sure of brand and it could be Iron Chelate. I am at work - so will check and add further details later if possible).

Applied one dose to the Tree Waratah and lillies about 4 weeks ago and all are a healthy green now.

Suggest you also check soil PH around each plant.

I checked and found I used Iron Chelate manufactured (packaged) by Manutec.

Tree waratah is looking really good today. Three new shoots at the top after it looked so bad that I went looking for a replacement.

RE: yellow leaves

I have some yellow leaves on young banksia integrifolia - advice from Aust native nursery in Western Sydney, was that since leaves are all yellow needs iron and magnesium(epsom salts will do it) watered on leaves at night;better using a weaker rather than stronger solution; if leaves are yellow but veins still green then suggested it was only iron. How does this check out?

thanks guys,

iron deficiency sounds like the cause of it all (veins are still green). will give it a go
