Banksia how to

I have planted 2 Banksia in my yard about 5 years ago. Now one has flowered. I know nothing about what to do at this point, just enjoy it and let it be as I have done. Or should I cut the flower off at some point and if so, how far back should it be cut,
Thank you very much for your help.
Mike
P.S. its a beautiful flower I feel like a new dad.

If you do not intend to collect seed then hold the branch, containing the spent flower, firmly and then twist the spent flower from its base. They usually break off cleanly.

Banksia do not naturally shed their spent flowers / spent seed cones and if you let to many spent flower build up then your it will become increasingly unsightly in a landscape setting.

Although some people do like the look of seed cones.

If you are no interested in the seeds then cut the flower off as soon as it is spent. Hold the branch to which it is attached and twist the spent flower. They usually come off cleanly.

once all the showy bits of the flower have fallen off you will be left with a long no descript rod then the flower is spent
