grevillea seed

Hi,
I have some G.venusta seed that I'm having trouble getting to germinate. I've tried them twice just strait in seed raising mix. Wondering if anyone can tell me if they prefer to be smoked or some other treatment.

I've never grown grevillea from seed and unless you can be sure that both parents are g. venusta - if that's species you want - you won't know until the seedling flowers that that's what it is, although with venusta the leaf form maybe an indication. Best means of cultivation, I think, would be from cuttings taken now to late summer. It's the only way you can be sure that the cutting will be the same (a clone) as the parent.

the link below has some good pointers on growing grevillea from seed. they might not come true but hey you could end up with something even more interesting out of it if you get a cross
