Lifespan of Callistemons?

Curious and haven't been able to find much information. I love them, they grow well in the garden and I'm looking to rip out the camellias that are currently planted between our back paved area and the neigbours to the east. As I'm planting for privacy and the birds, I want something that will endure for quite some time. Many Thanks

Sounds like a lovely idea, the birds will love your Callistemons. In my opinion, they are long lived. I have had many in my gardens over the years, and they survive well. I would not say the same for Grevilleas.

Perhaps you could plant some lomandra underneath them, to make it even more bushy.

All the best to you

Yes I love them too, as do the birds.
The previous owners built the house and were keen to leave us with photos of the new gardens. We have 3 huge red callistemons at the front which show up in their photos as tube stocks....basically sticks in the ground. They are huge and very healthy now so I am guessing they would be about 25 years old.
Just pray that the wind doesn't blow in the direction of your swimming pool too often!!!! Grr its a real pest in that manner.
