Phosphorus - Potting Mix no exception

One of our leading producers of Potting Mix here in Victoria have a special potting mix for those who grow and pot natives. This is a composted formula and is safe for natives, I use it and it's great stuff.

BUT - If you read about this product on their web page you also read about the high levels of phosphorus that are found in most run of the mill Potting Mix.

Next time you're potting up and using potting mix, spare a thought to the ingredients and then ask yourself "Is this safe for my plants". It would appear that unless Phosphorus is brought to your attention in the likes of forums like this, you probably wouldn't know anything about it.

It's everywhere!!!!!

I use an expensive potting mix containing fertilizer for all my natives and have never considered the phosphorus problem. Maybe I would have better results with the potting mix you have discovered. Please tell us the name.
