In that case I'd be trying to find that dwarf variety (C. monticola). It apparently grows to 3m and 1m wide.
The only problem about going for the treed varieties is that the smallest gets to about 6-7m and that's going to mean having to prune the hedge regularly.

Roy, have you any clues as to sourcing the Callitris Monticola I looked it up in my native plant book and it said propogated from seed.Have checked the local native nursery and he doesn't know it at all. Perhaps someone at Australian Plant Society will know when we resume in February. Any leads would be appreciated

Roy,
I have sourced Callitris Monticola seed from Nindethana Seeds in W.A. They have no cultural details. Can I just sow the seed or do I have to soak, smoke water or scarify the seed first? Also what happens if/ when the seed germinates should I just prick the seedlings out into tubes? Many thanks,
Tina

To tell you the truth Tina I'm not sure about seed treatment.
Why don't you try sowing some straight up, giving smoke water treatment to some and scarify a few others.
It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Roy
