| Has anyone propagated this plant from seed ?
Just curious about the seeds, some of them are dark brown and others are light brown.
Germination rates, any ideas ?
Thanks |

| A commercial rainforest grower I was talking to last year said the seed is extremely short-lived and you should extract it from freshly collected ripe fruit and plant it the same day, not letting the fruit dry out either. It's a remarkable tree. The contrast between the vigorous 'pole stage', with huge bipinnate leaves, and old trees with broad umbrella-shaped crown is amazing |

Tony regarding the germination of Celerywood. Polyscias elegans have a long lived seed and germinate in disturbed rainforest soils once cleared/disturbed. I have collected seed from bird regurgitations and they germinate reliably. This species occurs over such a wide geographical distribution that this alone stands as to its seed longevity. Additionally I have collected fruit which has only just coloured up and these have all germinated too. regards Kris |
