what is it

We have a beautiful flowering herb. We think it is ornamental oregano but are not sure. It dies away in winter and grows in spring and is now in flower. It has a silver-grey foliage and has many long stems with the ends turning a mauve colour. It looks like the peppermint gum leaves a bit and the flowers are like mauve leaves on the ends.I hope someone can tell me what it is.

hi jdwoolno, I know the plant. I had one and lost it. You're right, it's called Origanum rotundifolium (Kent beauty). Have a look at the link below and tell me if that's the one...

I'll have to go out and find myself another one, it's a beautiful specimen, very unusual.

Here is a link that might be useful: Origanum rotundifolium

Thank you Jamus. It certainly is our plant. It is great to have such a good website and for people to be so helpful . Cheers and have a wonderful Christmas.

What a beautiful specimen - any ideas where one might get seeds? Linda
