Herb & Spice Reference Books

| I thought it might be good to share our favourite and most treasured books. I have been looking for new books and reading the reviews, but there's nothing like a review from a fellow enthusiast.
I have the New Royal Horticultural Society Encyclopedia of herbs and their uses. It's not bad and gets used a lot.
Any others? |

| I regard the books by Leslie Bremness to be very good resources. She keeps things brief and to the point, and the illustrations are excellent. |

| Penny Woodward has some great books. I have 'Pest Repellent Plants' I love it and find it very clear and helpful. Cheers, Jules |

| Yes my girlfriend bought Asian Herbs & Vegetables by Penny Woodward. It's an excellent little book, gets a lot of use. Daisy, Leslie Bremness' Complete Book of Herbs seems to be out of print? I found "Smithsonian Handbooks" Herbs - by her. Have you got this one? |

| Jamus and all, there is a second-hand book site (based in Sydney). Always worth a look if you're after something that's out of print. I don't think they've got any L. Bremness books at the moment, but it doesn't mean they won't soon. There is a search facility. You can even just type in the subject matter. Someone recommended it on Aust. Native Plants forum. It's www.dialabook.com.au ..Cheers, Dee. |

| Thanks Dee. I'm there now. What do people think of Ian and Elizabeth Hemphill's books? |

| His Spice Book is very comprehensive but geared towards cooks rather than growers. Linda |
