Lavendar pruned back hard yesterday

My lavender in the window boxes was growing out of control and looked a bit tired and old, it had just finished a bloom cycle so I gave both bushes a very big hair cut. Pruning the top, sides and back and even cutting off some of the woodier old stems.

Was it okay to prune late in spring I wonder?

So long as you left it some leaves it should be fine. I just gave all mine a trim. The dead flowers (and a few wayward branches) have to come off or it looks terribly ratty.
