I know something about this, my step mum suffers badly, the symptoms you describe. She's done LOTS of research into it and it's probably a genetic condition with no cure at this point in time. It's hereditary, runs in families and sufferers usually have it for life, beginning in late teens or early 20s. There are some suggestions that some foods can trigger it, my step mum avoided foods high in salicylates and that did reduce the frequency of attacks. The cause of migraine isn't fully understood, but it's completely unrelated to "stress headaches" that most people get from time to time. |
